Tragedy In Plateau: Tears and sorrow have taken over Bokkos Local Government Area in Plateau State as the number of people killed in recent attacks by gunmen has climbed to 52.

The Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council Vanguard, Farmasum Fuddang, confirmed this painful development on Friday, revealing that 40 more bodies were discovered on Wednesday and Thursday, bringing the total to 52.
According to him, 31 victims were laid to rest in a mass burial on Thursday. Sadly, five children were burnt beyond recognition in Hurti village. The attackers also killed 11 people in Ruwi, four in Manguna, and one person in Dafo village.
The bloody attacks happened on the night of April 2, 2025, in the communities of Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna (Tagai), Hurti, and Tadai, where gunmen opened fire on innocent residents and destroyed homes.
The Plateau State Government has condemned the violence and assured the families of the victims that justice will be served. Some suspects have already been arrested, according to the Commissioner for Information, Mrs Joyce Ramnap.
She added that security forces have been sent to the affected areas and are working hard to restore peace. “We urge everyone to remain calm and not take laws into their own hands,” she said.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang has also promised stronger security, intelligence gathering, and quicker emergency response across the state. The government is calling on community, religious, and traditional leaders to promote peace and unity.
