President Bola Tinubu has approved the official posting of 65 ambassadors whose nominations were confirmed in December, assigning them to various diplomatic missions across the world.
The development was announced in a statement issued on Friday by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
Among the prominent appointments, former presidential aide Reno Omokri has been posted to Mexico, while former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode will serve as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany. Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has been assigned to Qatar, and Ondo South Senator Jimoh Ibrahim will represent Nigeria as Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
According to the statement, President Tinubu has directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to begin the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners without delay.
“President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of the 65 ambassadors whose nominations were confirmed last December, assigning them to their respective host countries,” the statement read.
“Tinubu directed the ministry of foreign affairs to immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and high commissioners.”
The list includes both career and non-career diplomats who will represent Nigeria in various countries and international organisations.
Among the non-career ambassadors, Grace Bent was posted to Togo, Ita Enang to South Africa, Victor Ikpeazu to Spain, Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu to Israel, and Paul Oga Adikwu to the Vatican City.
Others include Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to the Philippines, Erelu Angela Adebayo to Portugal, Oluwayimika Ayotunwa Olumilua to Japan, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to Greece, and Chioma Priscilla Ohakim to Poland.
Additional postings saw Aminu Dalhatu assigned to the United Kingdom, Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau to China, Olufemi Pedro to Australia, Muhammed Ubandoma Aliyu to Argentina, Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Joseph Sola Iji to Russia, and Isaak Adewole to Canada.
Other envoys include Fatima Florence Ajimobi to Austria, Lola Akande to Sweden, Ayodele Oke to France, Yakubu N. Gambo to Saudi Arabia, Nora Ladi Daduut to South Korea, Joe Okocha to Ireland, Kulu Haruna Abubakar to Tunisia, and Jerry Samuel Manwe to Trinidad and Tobago.

The administration also announced several postings for career ambassadors. These include Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d’Ivoire, Maimuna Ibrahim Besto to Niger, Monica Okwuchukwu Enebechi to São Tomé, Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algeria, and Endoni Syndoph Paebi to Burkina Faso.
Others are Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt, Jane Adams Michael to Jamaica, Alexandra Clark-Omeru to Zambia, Chima Geoffrey Lioma David to Mali, and Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah to Equatorial Guinea.
Additional assignments include Segun Ige to Lebanon, Ruben Abimbola Samuel to Italy, Ogechukwu Kingsley Onaga to Mozambique, Magaji Umar to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Muhammad Saidu Dahiru to India.
The list also features Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Senegal, Shehu Ilu Barde to Ghana, Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia, Abubakar Musa Musa to Chad, Mohammed Idris Haidara to the Netherlands, and Bako Adamu Umar to Morocco.
Others include Olatunji Ahmed Sulu Gambari to Malaysia, Romata Mohammed Omobolanle to Tanzania, John Shamah Shaga to Botswana, Hamza Mohammed Salau to Iran, Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya, Adeola Mopelola Ibrahim to Benin Republic, Adebayo Emmanuel Ayeni to Belgium, Wahab Adekola Akande to Switzerland, Esther Arewa to Namibia, Joseph John Gergadi to Gabon, Luther Ogbomode Ayo-Kalata to Sierra Leone, Danladi Yakubu Nyaku to Sudan, and Bello Dogon-Daji Haliru to Thailand.
The latest approvals follow earlier diplomatic postings made by the administration in January. At the time, Kayode Are, a former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), was assigned to the United States, while Ayodele Oke, a former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), was posted to France. Aminu Dalhatu was also named High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
