Secondary School Teacher Arrested For Raping Two Girls Within 24 Hours In Ogun (Video)

A secondary school teacher, Lateef Olaniran, has been arrested in Ogun state for allegedly raping two young ladies within a 24-hour period. The arrest was disclosed in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Adijat Olaleye, on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.

Lateef Olaniran, a native of Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, is employed as a Mathematics teacher at Ebenezer Grammar School in Iberekodo, Abeokuta, and is associated with the Ogun State Teaching Service Commission.

The arrest came about when a member of the Commissioner’s team received a call from a young lady reporting that she had been raped. In response, the Ministry, in collaboration with the police, swiftly took action. The victim was taken to a laboratory for various tests, and she was then led to the police station to make an official report.

The Commissioner and the police attempted to contact Olaniran at his home but faced resistance. With the assistance of the owner’s brother, they gained access to the compound. During their visit, they heard a girl’s cry for help coming from the teacher’s room. With the support of the police, they arrested Olaniran, who was accused by the girl of forcibly engaging in sexual intercourse with her and threatening to harm her if she did not persuade her family to send him money.

Lateef Olaniran has been remanded at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters for further investigations.
