England head coach Gareth Southgate has made his decision to hasten up the squad selection for World Cup and he has decided that Chelsea full-back Reece James won’t be following the squad to Qatar for the competition. James has not recovered sufficiently from the knee injury he picked up against AC Milan last month.
Reece James is an English professional footballer who plays as a right-back for the Premier League club Chelsea and the England national team. It is in every player’s dream to play in the World Cup competition but there are certain things that can’t be controlled.
According to multiple reports, James tried his best in recovering very fast and even flew to Dubai to undergo an intensive rehabilitation programme in an attempt to be fit for Qatar, and was even doing some tentative running at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground in recent days.
However, there are other injuries available and according to the England head coach, he cannot risk including him in his 26-man squad that will be announced on Thursday.
It is a tough decision but some things just have to be said and some decisions just have to be taken.
Recee has taken to his Twitter page to show support for the team after the news and also revealed he was willing to take the “risk” of making the World Cup squad which he never gave up hope of reaching as he “worked harder than” ever to return to fitness. See below:

Not going to the World Cup is a huge blow, especially when you’ve worked hard to be a part of the squad.
We wish James and the England squad all the best.
