Controversial Nigerian musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, will remain in detention until Monday, January 19, 2026, after being arraigned before an Ogun State High Court in Onipanu, Ota.
Portable faces a nine-count charge, which includes allegations of stealing, assault, felony occasioning harm, and resisting arrest, among other offences.
Reports from the court indicate that the singer appeared distressed during the proceedings, at times breaking down in tears. He is accused of attacking one of his wives, Ashabi Simple, as well as law enforcement officers.
The prosecution stated that on New Year’s Day, several other individuals were assaulted at Portable’s Odogwu Bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State. Those affected include Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi, and Ebuka Odah.
Portable is also alleged to have stolen a Mercedes Benz E300, dealer number WAlly Dex Auto D/3 597 DOG, valued at ₦12 million, which belongs to Ileyemi Damilola David. The singer reportedly evaded arrest for several days following an altercation involving his estranged partner, the mother of his two children, and her sibling on January 1.

While Ashabi Simple was absent from the hearing, two of her siblings, claiming to be eyewitnesses, attended court. The prosecutor explained that the alleged offences fall under Sections 516, 351, 383, 389, and 390 of the Ogun State Criminal Code Laws, 2006. Portable and other suspects, who are still at large, are also accused of using an axe to inflict injuries on Ileyemi Damilola.
In addition, the singer allegedly obstructed and assaulted a female police officer, W/Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, while she was carrying out her official duties.
The court declined Portable’s bail application, citing the absence of the assaulted officer, and emphasized that her testimony is necessary before any decision on bail can be made. The matter has been adjourned, and Portable will remain in custody until January 19, when the court will review his bail request.
