Toluige Olokobi Babalola, the woman who became widely known through the viral “Mummy Calm Down” video, who was said to have committed suicide in Benin, Edo State was found with a rope on her neck.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, November 6, 2023.
In response to the incident, the Edo State police command spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed Toluige’s death.
He also mentioned that her husband has been arrested and detained for questioning.
According to the husband’s report to the police, he found his wife hanging with a rope around her neck when he returned home from the market. Toluige was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead, and her body was subsequently taken to the mortuary.
Recall,Toluige and her son gained internet fame when a video showed the little boy frantically begging his mother after offending her. In the video, the boy, Oreofeoluwa, was seen crying and pleading with his mom to “calm down and rest a little” before taking any action against him.
The video became a social media sensation, attracting attention from various quarters, including Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
However, a user on X disclosed on Tuesday that Toluige had taken her own life in Benin, Edo State. The user, claiming to be at the scene of the incident, mentioned that Toluige did not share her problems with anyone before committing suicide.
The post stated that she left behind three children, including the popular “Mummy Calm Down” boy.
