The Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Douye Diri, has achieved a significant win in Bayelsa state as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began the collation of results. The local government secured by Diri is Kolokuma/Opukuma.
In this electoral contest, the ruling PDP triumphed over the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) by a notable margin. The PDP garnered 18,465 votes, while the APC secured 5,349 votes. The Labour Party (LP) trailed with 22 votes.
In this particular local government, a total of 16 candidates and political parties participated in the governorship election held on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Incumbent governor Diri contended against 15 other candidates, including the APC’s Timipre Sylva and Udengs Eradiri of the LP.
