The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi and his wife, Esther Folashade Aduke celebrate their 14th wedding anniversary today.
It’s a double celebration for the Kumuyis as today also marks Mummy Esther’s 79th birthday.
She was born on 13th October, 1945.
Recall in 2010, a year after losing Abiodun, his first wife, the Osun-born cleric proposed to Esther, who was 65 then and had never been married.
Speaking at a youth program in Delta, Kumuyi said before she agreed to marry him, Esther, who was the administrator of the Deeper Life Bible Church in London, sought divine guidance through prayer.
The 83-year-old, who is the author of several Christian books and devotionals, added that ever since they got married, he has been the “greatest thing” that has “ever happened in her life”.
“I am going to say something, mummy Esther will not mind, mummy will you mind? She was 40, she was not married, 45, she was not married, 50, she was not married, 55, she was not married, 60, she was not married,” he said.
“65, I came along and I said the will of God is for me to marry you. She went to pray, saying God, what should I do? God did not say tell him no, tell him you are 65. A fool at 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, is a fool forever.
“She came back and said, what did she say? She said yes. In your life, at 30, 35, 40 and so on, say yes. And since she said yes and we came together, I, William, the defender of the faith, has become the greatest thing that ever happened in her life. Do not give up the purpose in your life.”
Kumuyi met his first wife in September 1972. They married on September 13, 1980, in Lagos. They have two children, Jeremiah and John.
On October 13, 2010, exactly 18 months after the death of Abiodun, Kumuyi married Esther in London. They have no children together.
