Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has made an announcement regarding wage awards for workers and pensioners in the state. The governor has decided to provide N25,000 for workers and N15,000 for pensioners as part of this wage initiative.

Governor Makinde has specified that these payments will be made for a period of six months, resulting in an additional N2.2 billion being added to the state’s wage bill. This move is intended to provide financial relief to the state’s workforce and retirees.

The announcement was made by Governor Makinde in the presence of labor leaders, including Comrade Kayode Martins (NLC), Comrade Bosun Olabiyi (TUC), and Comrade Olaonipekun Oluwaseun (JNC Public Sector). The governor addressed the workers at the entrance of the Governor’s Office in Secretariat, Ibadan.

During this address, the workers had gathered at the Governor’s Office as part of a decision taken during a Congress held on Monday to seek a resolution to their concerns. The presence of government functionaries, such as Special Adviser (Labour Matters) Comrade Adebayo Titilola-Sodo and Executive Assistant to the governor Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe, also accompanied the governor during the announcement.
