MTN Reacts As System Glitch Causes Debt Cancellation For Subscribers In Nigeria

MTN Nigeria responded to the recent technical glitch that temporarily removed debts from the accounts of subscribers who had borrowed airtime from the company. Initially, users noticed their owed debts were cleared, leading to speculation and joy on social media.

The company swiftly clarified that the debt clearance was not an intentional action but a result of a system glitch. In their official statement addressing this, MTN Nigeria said, “System glitch impacting balance enquiries.”

They reassured customers that the error resulted in some receiving messages indicating their balances were cleared, which was not the case. The company ensured users that all balances would reflect accurate figures once the problem was resolved, and their engineering team was actively working on a fix.

MTN Nigeria expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and offered apologies to affected subscribers, while assuring them of their commitment to resolving the issue promptly. The company’s statement aimed to reassure customers that the problem was being actively addressed and that accurate balance figures would be restored once the glitch was fixed.
