Nollywood actress Moyo Lawal has spoken candidly about the circumstances surrounding her leaked private video, months after disappearing from social media.
In a heartfelt video shared upon her return, the actress addressed the accusations that she was responsible for the clip’s release. She revealed that her former partner had turned the blame on her, claiming the incident happened because she refused to acknowledge him publicly on her social platforms.
Moyo challenged that claim, asking if she had ever made it a habit to post her partners online. She explained that the situation made her realise how differently people can behave when a relationship begins to fall apart.
According to the actress, she had long relied on her lively, carefree image to cope with personal struggles, but she has now chosen to make a deliberate change in how she lives and presents herself.

“To me, entertainers should be seen and not heard, and as a thespian, no matter what is happening in your reality, the show must always go on,” she said.
Reacting to widespread assumptions that she intentionally shared the explicit content, Moyo firmly dismissed the idea. “There is a narrative that I posted this intimate part of my life. I refuse to allow this narrative to stick with me forever,” she stated.
She added that her decision to speak publicly was also driven by messages from young women experiencing similar ordeals. Some, she revealed, have been threatened or pushed to the edge emotionally after their private content was leaked.
“I have had a few girls reach out to me who were in similar situations… some of them are being threatened, and I need them to understand that this shame is not theirs to carry, nor is it their fault,” she said.
Sharing more details of her own experience, the actress disclosed that her ex attempted to emotionally control her, telling her that if he could not have her, no one else would. She said he also blamed her for the situation because she declined to feature him on her social media pages, adding again, “Have I ever posted anyone on my socials?”
Moyo admitted that her ability to brush things aside because of her playful on-screen image made her tolerate too much for too long. However, she says that phase has ended.
“I have always had this ability to overlook things because I have always had such fun characters. I am flipping the switch. I have decided to live a virtuous life,” she declared.
She further explained that public assumptions about her lifestyle, including her online posts, do not reflect her true values. “The worst has already happened to me. Posting thirst traps is nothing; it is different from my reality. I have always lived my life like a married woman whose husband was out,” she noted.
Wrapping up her message, Moyo said she is embracing growth, transformation and a fresh direction, while appealing for understanding rather than judgment.
“I am flipping the switch and looking forward to an entirely new character and adventure, and I hope you’ll go on this adventure with me and not judge me a bit too much.”
