Three years after the passing of former Nigerian Ambassador to Spain and Lagos politician, Late Demola Seriki, family tensions appear to be simmering.
Seriki, who died on December 15, 2022, in Madrid at the age of 63, left behind three wives and his children.
On Monday, December 15, 2025, which marked the third anniversary of his death, his last wife, Princess Sholape, and her children visited his graveside to pray for his soul.
However, Sholape claimed that she and her children were denied access to the burial vault.

In a video shared online, she said, “The keys for the vault have been seized and we have been refused access to it. Today we speak up and we will get on with things. It’s okay. It doesn’t stop up. We have done our prayers.”
Sholape elaborated on the incident, describing a new restriction imposed by her late husband’s stepdaughter, Biola, who she claims must now grant approval before anyone can visit the graveside.
She partly explained, “It’s important that I state clearly that, before the keys were put on, I normally go there. I was going there several times after the burial, and then the kids—I take the kids after school. So we got there once, when we got there, we wanted to sign, they said no, we wanted to take the buggy, they said, oh, gave some excuse, they said we would walk. Then they now said, you know, because we were going, and they didn’t know what to do, then they blocked access, and they said they needed to call their manager. Manager came out, and he said, oh, no, that’s, before we go, we have to get permission of Biola. I said permission of Biola? He said yes, but that is the new rule, that she says that she has to give permission. I couldn’t believe it, and I said, do you know who I am, do you know who they are? He said yes. I said, but you know this is my husband’s fault, he said yes. I said, it’s my husband that paid for it, that because he transferred money, and he gave her the balance to pay, it’s not her money, and you know that this is a polygamist, right?”
Sholape added that the situation caused distress for her children. “She says to him, ‘No, my kids are crying, is it possible that they’re not going to get access to their dad?’ I said no, no, no. They’re panicking. I’m like, no, this is not possible. I said to him, ‘Listen, I can’t believe that someone as exposed as this fault would…’”
The incident highlights ongoing disputes within the family of the late politician, raising questions about access to the burial site and the management of the family estate.
