The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has challenged opposition parties to prioritise internal reforms instead of pushing for further amendments to the Electoral Act 2022.

In a statement on Friday signed by Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, Lagos APC spokesman, the party described recent calls for changes to the electoral law as “frustration from serial election losers” rather than genuine advocacy for electoral reform.

“What Nigerians are seeing is not genuine reform advocacy, but frustration from serial election losers,” the statement read. “Instead of organising effectively, articulating clear policies, and building grassroots structures, the opposition continues to substitute noise for ideas and protests for preparation.”

The APC stressed that democracy requires structure, vision, competence, and voter trust, not press conferences and social media outrage. The party added that opposition groups that fail to deploy polling agents across voting units lack the moral authority to question election outcomes.

“Any review of our electoral laws must be based on national interest and empirical evidence — not bruised political egos,” Oladejo said.

The Lagos APC called on opposition parties to return to serious political work and provide Nigerians with credible alternatives.

“Nigeria deserves a vibrant opposition. What we see today is a coalition of perpetual complainers unwilling to confront their own weaknesses,” the statement added.
