Damilola Marshal, daughter of Fuji legend King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, has announced her intention to contest for a seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Damilola, who currently serves as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made the declaration in an Instagram post on Tuesday, stating her desire to represent Surulere Constituency 2.

“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she wrote.

The lawyer, who has over a decade of legal experience, said her background has equipped her with a solid understanding of governance, justice, and community needs.

“I am a woman of excellence and results. I am ready to serve and lead. With my background, I am fully prepared and ready to fight for what truly matters. I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House.

“As a young woman, I believe this is exactly what my people need right now, and that is why I decided to step forward,” she added.

In her message, she urged constituents to prioritise progress and capable leadership, ending her post with the slogan: “Youth Lokan!!! Igbega Eko, Ajumose wa ni.”

Damilola is expected to succeed the current lawmaker representing the constituency, Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

An alumna of North America University, Houdegbe, in Cotonou, Benin Republic, she was called to the Nigerian Bar on December 15, 2015, and later obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.

She was appointed as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism in May 2024 by Governor Sanwo-Olu, a move that gained public attention after her father openly appreciated the governor during the coronation and birthday celebration of Oba Sikirullah Apena.

Her political ambition has since generated reactions online, with several notable figures, including Davido and Dayo Amusa, expressing support for her decision.
