Fuji singer KWAM 1, born Wasiu Ayinde, has officially withdrawn his legal challenge against the ongoing selection of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
The singer filed a notice of discontinuance at the High Court of Justice in Ogun State, Ijebu-Ode judicial division, bringing an end to his bid to halt the installation of a new monarch.
KWAM 1 had earlier approached the court on December 16, seeking an injunction to suspend all processes related to the nomination and installation of the Awujale. The suit named several government officials and traditional authorities as respondents, including the Ogun State Governor, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, the Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Funsengbuwa Ruling House.
In his application, KWAM 1 requested the court to halt the succession process pending the resolution of substantive issues he raised.
However, in a notice dated Monday, December 22, and filed by his legal team led by Wahab Shittu, the singer formally discontinued the suit.
“Take notice that the Claimant/Applicant herein wholly discontinues the above suit against the Defendant/Respondent pursuant to Order 23 of the High Court of Ogun State (Civil Procedure) Rules 2024 and under the inherent jurisdiction of this Honourable Court,” the notice reads.

Explaining the decision, KWAM 1 stated that the suit was initially filed following correspondences from the second respondent dated December 2, 2025, which have since been withdrawn.
“The Applicant respectfully prays that the Honourable Court record the discontinuance of this suit and make such orders as it deems fit,” the notice added.
The withdrawal brings to a close KWAM 1’s controversial attempt to halt the Awujale succession process in Ijebu-Ode.
