Kevin De Bruyne Shines In City’s 3-0 Win Over Nottingham Forest

Kevin De Bruyne celebrated his first start since September with a standout performance, contributing a goal and an assist as Manchester City cruised to a 3-0 victory against Nottingham Forest on Wednesday.

The win ended a frustrating four-game losing streak for the reigning Premier League champions.

Reflecting on the match, Kevin De Bruyne highlighted the importance of the result:

“I think it’s just important that we won a game,” the 33-year-old told City’s official website. “We started the game well, created some opportunities—maybe a few mistakes, I think myself as well. But, you know, happy with the way that we performed.”

The Belgian midfielder, who recently returned from a groin injury, acknowledged the challenges City have faced this season, with injuries disrupting their campaign.

“It’s been a tough time, but we tried to change it,” Kevin De Bruyne said. “Unfortunately, we’ve got a few guys who are maybe injured. It’s what’s happening this year, but we’ll try and recover as quickly as possible.”

The match also marked a defensive milestone for City, who recorded their first clean sheet in eight matches across all competitions—a critical boost after losing key midfielder Rodri to a season-ending cruciate ligament injury.

“We gave a couple of chances away, but I think the second half was pretty good,” added De Bruyne.

City, currently fourth in the league with 26 points, will look to build on this momentum when they face Crystal Palace on Saturday.
