Nollywood actress Ashabi has spoken out on the controversy involving her and her singer baby daddy, Portable, following the dramatic incident that trailed their New Year celebration.
Reports had earlier emerged that the pair kicked off the year with tension after a video surfaced online showing them in a heated exchange, during which Ashabi was heard telling the singer to kill her.
Reacting to the backlash, Portable took to Instagram to accuse the actress of invading his home to attack his family.
He alleged that his pregnant wife was beaten, guns were pointed at his children, and that Ashabi’s mother accused him of using charms on her daughter while also questioning why he had not bought her a car.
Giving her side of the story, Ashabi said the incident happened when she and her siblings visited Portable to celebrate the New Year. She claimed the singer became violent during the visit, pushing and slapping her before the situation escalated.
According to her, “When my siblings and I went to celebrate the New Year with you, you pushed me and sl@pped me. You then brought out an axe and forcefully took all our phones. You gave my younger brother a blow in his eye; till now, he can’t open the eye. You sl@pped my younger sister, I had to run to your office and hide.”

She further alleged that her siblings later told her Portable brought out a calabash and poured water on the floor, adding, “When I got out from your office in order to go home, you pulled me back and said you would cut me with the axe.”
Ashabi also addressed public questions about why she remains in the singer’s life despite not living with him. She claimed Portable frequently begged her not to leave and emotionally pressured her by referencing his mental health struggles.
She said, “People are always wondering what I’m still doing with you since you don’t love me. I wish they knew how you always cry and beg me not to leave you. You always cry and say you once ran m@d, how do they expect me to dump you with your mental illness after all, you are my kids father.”
Dismissing Portable’s claim that she assaulted his wife, Ashabi described the allegation as false and criticised Bewaji for not speaking up to clear the air. She insisted that she had never confronted the singer’s wife in person.
“I h@te false allegations. You said I went to b€@t your wife? If I were your wife, I’d come out to say, please don’t implicate me. We have never stood face-to-face before. Let her come out and say that I, Ashabi, came to her house to be@t her up,” she said.
She concluded by stating that she would rather remain a babymama than accept marriage under degrading circumstances, saying, “I prefer to remain a babymama than collecting a ring in a disrespectful way.”
