The embattled Governor Fubara, has vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt alongside his family and security aides, deepening the political tension gripping the state.

Sources revealed that Fubara left the seat of power early Wednesday morning, though details of his next destination remain unclear. A close source, who spoke anonymously, confirmed the development but declined further comments, saying he was not authorised to speak on the matter.

Despite Fubara’s exit, the Government House remains under light security. Two Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), which were stationed at the main entrance on Tuesday night, are still in place, manned by a few security operatives.

Checks around Port Harcourt and its environs showed that normal activities were ongoing, with residents going about their daily routines.

Sole Administrator Yet To Assume Office

Meanwhile, preparations are in top gear to receive the newly appointed Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Étè Ibas (retd.), who is expected to oversee the affairs of the state for the next six months following President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency.

As of 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Vice Admiral Ibas was yet to formally assume office. However, our correspondent observed about 15 soldiers stationed inside the Government House premises as arrangements were being made for his arrival.

FG Directs Rivers Allocation To Sole Administrator

In a related development, the Federal Government has confirmed that all financial allocations meant for Rivers State will now be directed to the Sole Administrator, further confirming the full enforcement of the emergency rule.
