Actress Doris Simeon has said she did not “feel anything” when her ex-husband Daniel Ademinokan married actress Stella Damasus.
In a recent interview with actress Biola Adebayo on the Talk to B show, Doris also opened up about the challenging child custody battle with him, noting how she was depressed throughout the ordeal.
However, she said she never outwardly displayed these emotions, explaining that she was determined to maintain her strength as her parents had instilled resilience in her from an early age.
Doris said that her son was only four years old when Daniel took him to the United States, and the last time she actively played the role of mother to her child was when he was three years old.
The actress claimed that her attempts to maintain contact were met with indifference.
She said that she called, Daniel rarely answered; and whenever he did, he would often say he was busy, leaving her unable to reach him for months.
Reflecting on the situation, Doris admitted, “I might have had my faults, and he had his, too. That’s why I didn’t feel anything when he got remarried. The only painful part was that he didn’t allow me to mother my child.”
She continued, “He took my son without my consent when he was just four years old. The last time I mothered him, he was three. I tried calling, but he wouldn’t pick up.
“When he finally did, he’d tell me he’d call back because he was busy, and then I wouldn’t hear from him again for three to four months. I was frustrated and depressed, but I never showed it.
“I came from a family that taught us to stay strong no matter what. I remember going to a movie premiere and someone said I was there instead of fighting to see my son. That’s when they took us to court.”
Doris and Daniel separated in 2010 and divorced shortly after.
