Social media users have expressed shock following reports that Nigerian music star Davido allegedly lost his composure during a court appearance in Lagos.
A lawyer, Maruf Muhammed, claimed via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the singer was in court in Yaba over a custody dispute involving his former partner, Sophia Momodu. According to him, tensions flared during cross-examination, leading to a dramatic scene.
“Davido in High Court, Yaba now!
Come and see drama in court. The lawyer made OO1 lose his patience during cross-examination o!
“Be you never so high, the law is above you!!”
Reacting to the claim, a social media user explained that cross-examination can be mentally exhausting, especially for individuals not accustomed to courtroom proceedings.

“No matter how big or popular the person is!
No matter how composed the person is!
“Cross-examination is meant to shake tables, even if the tables are strong initially.
“Every lawyer is looking for that position to break the table”.
In response, Maruf agreed, noting that the intensity of the questioning unsettled the singer, triggering his reaction. He added that Davido’s father intervened to calm him.
“Yes, oo!
The lawyer hit him and made him look worthless. He got angry. Na him Papa de pat him”.
The incident has since sparked widespread discussion online, with many debating the pressures of courtroom scrutiny, even for high-profile individuals.
