Mohammed Atiku-Abubakar, a son of Nigeria’s former vice-president, has been discharged from the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Abuja after 40 days of treatment of Coronavirus.
He was also cleared of the virus.
Prior to his discharge, Mohammed was isolated without symptoms, a development that surprised medical experts.
Mr Atiku-Abubakar, 31, tested positive for the virus on March 19. He was subsequently moved to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, where most COVID-19 cases around the Nigerian capital are treated.
Despite being placed on medication, including antiretroviral and immune-boosting vitamins, he continued to test positive according to medical officials familiar with his case.
However, a few minutes ago, an excited father, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, took to twitter and announced the good news that his son has not only been discharged but also cleared of coronavirus.
“With gratitude to God, we are excited,
. It couldn’t have come at a better time of the Ramadan. I thank you all for your prayers, even as we remain indebted to the medical personnel who have stayed tireless in their efforts. –AA.
