A Federal High Court in Lagos has granted a N20 million bail to a long-time lawyer, Uyiekpen Giwa-Osagie, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Justice Nicholas Oweibo, on Thursday, also granted N20 million bail each to Atiku’s son-in-law, Abdullahi Babalele, and Giwa-Osagie’s brother, Erhunse.
The court ruled that the three defendants must produce one surety each in like sum.
The judge said the sureties must be resident in Lagos and must have landed property in the state.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had arraigned Babalele on Wednesday over $140,000 allegedly laundered during the 2019 elections.
The Giwa-Osagie brothers are being tried on a separate charge of laundering $2 million.
The case was adjourned till October 8 for trial.
