Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has revealed the heartfelt story behind giving his FA Cup medal to teammate Tyrell Malacia after their 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the 2023 final at Wembley.
Although CHC18 did not play in the match due to a hamstring injury, he celebrated with the team. During the trophy presentation, he noticed Malacia, who missed the entire 2022/23 season due to injuries, hesitating to join in.
Malacia recently returned from months of recovery and admitted he felt undeserving of the moment and planned to stay away. Casemiro, however, encouraged him, saying, “Nah, you have to go up there as well.”
When Malacia realized he had no medal, Casemiro selflessly handed over his own. “He’s part of the team, and we’re counting on him. Even though he hasn’t played, we love him, we need him, and he also needs love,” the Brazilian explained.
Malacia later expressed his gratitude, acknowledging how Casemiro’s gesture and the support of his teammates reminded him of his value to the squad, even during his time off the pitch.
