Barcelona’s Ronald Araujo Extends Contract Until 2031

Barcelona and Uruguay defender Ronald Araujo has committed his future to the Catalan club, signing a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2031.

The 25-year-old joined Barcelona in 2018 from Uruguayan side Boston River and has since become a vital player in Hansi Flick’s squad.

Over the years, Ronald Araujo has made 155 appearances and scored eight goals for the first team, cementing his reputation as one of La Liga’s top defenders.

Araujo was also a key member of the Uruguay squad that reached the semifinals of the 2024 Copa America, showcasing his talent on the international stage.

Barcelona’s announcement comes shortly after the team secured a dramatic 5-4 comeback victory against Benfica in Lisbon, earning a spot in the UEFA Champions League last 16.

Despite Ronald Araujo scoring an own goal during the match, the team demonstrated resilience to claim the win.

Currently, Barcelona sits third in La Liga, seven points behind rivals Real Madrid. Araujo’s long-term commitment is seen as a boost for the club’s defensive stability and future ambitions.
