He has threatened lawsuits against any medium who writes baseless stories on him trying to reconcile with his estranged wife, Mabel.
For comedian cum actor Ayo Makun, this is the time to make his stance known on issues pertaining to his crashed marriage with Mabel, his estranged wife.
He has firmly rejected circulating rumours suggesting he is trying to mend his relationship with his estranged wife, Mabel, over a year after their separation.
In a statement posted on his Instagram page on Thursday, AY labelled the rumours as baseless and intentionally misleading.
“I’ve become aware of a wave of false, persistent, and thoughtless social media content claiming that I am filled with regret and actively working toward reconciling with my former partner. These narratives are intentionally crafted to deceive the public and are driven by a quest for attention and online traction,” he stated.
“For the record, I have not given approval to, nor have I made, any such remarks. If I intend to speak on any personal issue, I have both the voice and the platform to do so directly, not through nameless blogs and gossip sites built on speculation,” he added.
AY also issued a stern warning, threatening legal repercussions for those continuing to spread the false stories.
“This is a final caution: the public should dismiss all such fabricated stories. Moving forward, legal action will be taken against any individual, blog, or media outlet that persists in publishing or circulating these defamatory claims. Enough is enough,” the comedian warned.
AY and Mabel were married in 2008 and officially went public with their separation in April 2024, ending a 16-year union.
Their relationship had previously been under scrutiny in 2016 when reports suggested Mabel had moved out of their Lekki residence and again in 2017, when she publicly warned a Lagos socialite to steer clear of her husband. Both parties denied those allegations at the time.
The 54-year-old eventually acknowledged the end of their marriage in an Instagram post in 2024. Although the split remained largely private, recent online chatter alleged that AY and some family members had reached out to Mabel in an effort to reconcile.
The couple shares two daughters: Michelle and Ayomide.
