Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants to give Raheem Sterling more playing time during the upcoming festive fixtures.
Sterling, currently on loan from Chelsea, has made only two Premier League starts and two League Cup starts since joining Arsenal in August.
Mikel Arteta admitted it has been “tough” not utilizing Sterling more, attributing the limited minutes primarily to injury management rather than tactical reasons.
“I would like him to play much more as I think he can impact the team in a very good way. He’s very good in the dressing room and is absolutely desperate to play,” Mikel Arteta said.
The manager also noted Sterling’s positive influence on the squad despite limited action and sympathized with his current situation, citing similar challenges Sterling faced at Chelsea.
With Arsenal facing a busy schedule, including matches against Everton (Premier League) and Crystal Palace (League Cup and league), Sterling could see more opportunities to shine.
