Arsenal Beats Man Utd 2-0 To Move Closer To Liverpool

Arsenal delivered a dominant second-half performance to secure a 2-0 win over Manchester United at the Emirates on Wednesday, cutting the gap to Premier League leaders Liverpool.

Goals from Jurrien Timber and William Saliba, stemming from expertly crafted set pieces, ended Ruben Amorim’s unbeaten run as United manager.

The Gunners started the match with intent, dominating possession and creating early chances. Gabriel Martinelli found the net within four minutes, but his goal was disallowed for offside.

Despite a lively first half, neither team registered a shot on target, with United frustrating the Gunner’s attack and missing a golden opportunity through Diogo Dalot just before halftime.

Arteta’s side breakthrough came in the 53rd minute when Timber rose highest to nod in from a corner.

Man Utd struggled to respond, and Arsenal doubled their lead in the 70th minute as Saliba met another perfectly delivered corner with a powerful header.

Ruben Amorim, who made six changes to his squad after their 4-0 triumph over Everton, left Amad Diallo and Marcus Rashford on the bench.

This decision seemed to blunt United’s attacking edge, as they failed to capitalize on Arsenal’s defensive absences, including Gabriel, Ben White, and Riccardo Calafiori.

With this win, Arsenal climbed to third place in the league standings, tied with Chelsea on points but behind on goal difference. The YNWA, held to a thrilling 3-3 draw at Newcastle, remain seven points ahead.

The result also highlighted the gunner’s set-piece efficiency, with manager Mikel Arteta emphasizing their importance post-match. On the other hand, United left the Emirates with lessons to learn as Amorim adjusts to life in the Premier League.
