The organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards have revealed that nominees for the 2026 edition will be announced on Sunday, March 29, with Nollywood actor Chimezie Imo set to host the live programme.
“The spotlight is on… and it’s time to get to know your nominees. Watch the #AMVCA12 Nominee Announcement LIVE |March 29 | 7PM WAT on #AfricaMagic channels,” the organisers shared on their social media handles.
In a statement published earlier on January 10, 2026, Africa Magic outlined the submission guidelines for the 12th edition of the awards, organised by MultiChoice in partnership with Canal+. The awards continue to celebrate excellence in African film and television while expanding categories for Indigenous Languages to include North and Central Africa.
“The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is back for its 12th edition. With entries now open, the awards continue to spotlight excellence in African film and television while expanding its Indigenous Language categories to include North and Central Africa,” the organisers said.
Entries were accepted from films and TV content publicly screened or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2025, with feature-length films required to have been shown in cinemas, on linear TV, or streaming platforms. Submission ran from January 11 to February 15, 2026.

The 12th edition will feature 32 categories, including 18 jury-decided awards, 11 audience-voted prizes, and special honours such as Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer awards.
Newly added categories—Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa—highlight the AMVCA’s commitment to Pan-Africanism, cultural preservation, and inclusive recognition of Africa’s diverse creative talents.
The grand ceremony is scheduled to take place in Lagos in May 2026.
