Nigeria’s Super Eagles saw their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign suffer a setback after losing 4–2 on penalties to hosts Morocco in Wednesday night’s semi-final clash.
The encounter was largely cagey, with both sides struggling to carve out clear-cut chances throughout regulation time. Nigeria found it difficult to turn possession into meaningful opportunities and were unable to make the most of the few openings that came their way.
After 90 minutes ended goalless, the match headed into extra time, where neither team could break the deadlock, forcing the contest to be decided from the penalty spot.
