Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has directed bloggers, influencers and other social media users to stop publishing and sharing alleged defamatory content about her, warning that offenders could face legal consequences.

The warning was contained in a cease-and-desist notice issued on November 5, 2026, by her lawyer, Tope Salami of Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy.

Abraham made the document public on Thursday through her X account.

According to the notice, the actress’s legal team had become aware of alleged false and unsubstantiated statements being circulated about her, which it said could undermine her reputation, personal integrity and professional image.

Although the notice did not disclose the specific publications or name those allegedly responsible, it called on members of the public to stop spreading such claims.

The lawyer stated, “It has come to our attention that certain individuals have engaged in the publication and circulation of statements, allegations and narratives concerning our client; which are untrue, misleading, unsubstantiated, and capable of damaging her professional personality, image, personal integrity, and general goodwill.”

Salami also demanded the removal of existing posts, videos, comments and other online materials containing statements considered false or defamatory about the actress.

He warned against creating or circulating fabricated stories, promoting misleading narratives or using digital platforms to ridicule, intimidate and harass Abraham.

The notice further cautioned users against encouraging cyberbullying, intimidation and reputational attacks targeting the actress, her business interests or associates.

It advised anyone intending to discuss Abraham publicly to ensure that their statements were factual, fair and supported by verifiable information.

Emphasising the possibility of legal action, the lawyer warned, “TAKE NOTICE that any person who continues to publish, circulate, endorse or amplify false and defamatory statements after receiving this notice shall be held legally responsible for their actions and may face appropriate legal proceedings and other remedies available under every extant laws.”

He added that relevant digital materials, including publications, comments and videos, could be documented and preserved as evidence should legal proceedings become necessary.

The legal warning comes as Abraham prepares for the December 16, 2026, cinema release of her forthcoming movie, Bestie.

The actress has remained active in Nollywood as an actor, filmmaker and producer since beginning her career in the early 2000s. Her notable projects include the Alakada franchise, Elevator Baby, The Prophetess and Ijakumo: The Born Again Stripper.

Her latest project follows the box office success of Oversabi Aunty, which crossed the ₦1bn mark in cinema earnings.

Abraham has previously pursued legal action over alleged online harassment. In 2024, she petitioned the cybercrime unit over alleged abusive messages and false claims circulating on social media, resulting in the arrest of at least one user identified as Big Ayo.

She later denied ordering the arrest of anyone’s mother, clarifying that her complaint concerned persistent cyberbullying and defamatory publications directed at her and her family.
