President Bola Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, as she marks her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante”.
In a birthday message issued on Monday, the President praised Remi for standing by him through challenging periods and supporting him throughout their years together.
Tinubu said his wife had accompanied him with “patience, grace and uncommon courage”, recalling the sacrifices they had made together.
“Today, I celebrate the woman who has walked beside me with patience, grace and uncommon courage,” he said.
The President referenced the Yoruba saying, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀”, meaning “a good wife is her husband’s crown”, as well as the biblical description of a virtuous woman.
According to Tinubu, Remi has brought the meaning of those words to life through her support for him during different phases of their journey.
“The burdens that were mine to bear often found their way onto your shoulders. The thoughts I could not put into words somehow found their way to you,” he said.
He also praised the First Lady for remaining calm and prayerful during difficult moments, saying her presence had often provided him with the counsel he needed.
“Through all these years, you have remained the one who truly understands me. There have been nights when your presence alone was counsel enough,” he said.
Tinubu said Remi had also remained honest with him, including on occasions when her advice was difficult for him to accept.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” he said.
The President further acknowledged the influence of Remi’s faith, prayers and values on their children and grandchildren.
He commended her humanitarian activities and her efforts to support vulnerable people across the country, particularly young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers.

Tinubu recalled her work through the New Era Foundation during their time in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative under his presidency.
“Your care has reached many young boys and girls, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across the country,” he said.
He said his wife’s compassion extended beyond ethnic, regional and religious boundaries, noting that she had continued to pray for and assist people she did not personally know.
“I know the prayers you offer for people whose names you may never know. I also know many whom you have helped without ever meeting them. For you, compassion has never recognised the boundaries of tribe, region or religion,” he said.
‘I Would Choose The Same Road That Led Me To You’
Reflecting on their marriage, Tinubu described their years together as a journey marked by sacrifices, difficult decisions, laughter and prayer.
“A long journey teaches a man the true value of a good partner. We have travelled a long road together,” he said.
The President said that given another opportunity to begin their journey, he would still make the same choice.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you,” he said.
Tinubu expressed gratitude for the life they had built together and prayed for his wife to enjoy many more years in good health and happiness.
“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi. I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years in good health and joy,” he added.
