President Bola Tinubu has met with French billionaire and Bolloré Group Chief Executive Officer, Vincent Bolloré, as the company plans to expand and localise more of its operations in Nigeria.
The meeting took place on Friday in Paris as part of Tinubu’s working vacation, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga.
Bolloré, whose business interests include television, music production and infrastructure, agreed to increase the local presence of the group’s activities in Nigeria, with planned expansion into film, entertainment and fibre-optic infrastructure.
During the meeting, the French businessman also outlined investment plans for Nigeria, which he said would extend beyond the country to other parts of Africa.
According to the statement, the planned investments are expected to have a significant impact on Nigeria’s creative industry, particularly Nollywood and Afrobeats.
Tinubu, in response, reaffirmed his administration’s focus on attracting investments and promoting economic growth, with particular attention to employment and digital development.
The President thanked Bolloré for his decision to deepen the company’s economic engagement with Nigeria, noting the country’s growing influence in global culture.
He said “it presents an opportunity for more production, investment and employment”.
