Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress Campaign Council, insisting that she is not involved in political campaigning.
The actress was listed as a member of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate of the campaign council unveiled by the Lagos APC on Thursday ahead of the 2027 elections.
She was listed alongside Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun and Bukky Wright, while Fuji musicians Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere and Adewale Ayuba were also named as members.
However, Abraham took to her Instagram Story to distance herself from the list, saying she had already made her decision to stay away from politics.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
Her clarification comes after years of controversy surrounding her political involvement, particularly following her support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.
The actress faced criticism from some social media users after publicly backing Tinubu. In March 2023, she discussed the backlash during a Twitter Space, alleging that some supporters of Peter Obi had petitioned Netflix to remove her movies from its platform.
Abraham also shared messages calling on Checkers Custard to end its relationship with her as an ambassador. She said the online attacks extended to her husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, and their son.

The controversy continued after the election, with Abraham remaining a subject of criticism over her political stance.
In July 2024, another dispute emerged after the actress took action against individuals she accused of making defamatory statements about her and her family.
Among those involved was an X user identified as Big Ayo, who accused Abraham of using money allegedly linked to Tinubu to fund a hair transplant for her husband. Abraham denied the claim and reported the matter to cybercrime authorities.
She later clarified that she had not caused the arrest of the man’s mother, contrary to claims circulating online, explaining that her complaint was over alleged cyberbullying and defamatory content.
Big Ayo was subsequently released from police custody following an online campaign and appeals for his release.
The development sparked another round of criticism against Abraham, with some social media users calling for her films to be removed from streaming platforms, including Netflix.
During an emotional Instagram Live session in July 2024, Abraham spoke about the impact of the attacks and said she had been pushed to her limit.
“I want to die,” she said, while alleging that she had endured prolonged bullying and defamation and that her child had also been subjected to curses.
She maintained that she had only exercised her rights by filing a petition with the cybercrime department.
The actress also stated that while she could tolerate insults directed at her, she would not accept attacks involving her children.
Although Abraham has now rejected the reported appointment, her name remains on the Lagos APC campaign council document as a member of the 33-person Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
Toke Benson-Awoyinka is listed as the director of the directorate, with Kosoko as co-director and Badmus as deputy director.
