A 40-foot container truck has crashed into road demarcation blocks and other vehicles after reportedly suffering brake failure at the exit of Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Agency disclosed the incident in a post on its X handle on Tuesday, urging motorists to exercise patience as authorities worked to remove the obstruction.

According to the agency, the crash has resulted in a traffic backlog stretching towards New Garage, while recovery and evacuation operations are underway.

The agency said, “A 40ft container laden truck reportedly had a brake failure and rammed into the demarcation blocks and other vehicles at the exit of Kara Bridge.”

It added, “Recovery and evacuation efforts have commenced as backlog extends to New Garage.”

Another crash was also reported on Kara Bridge in the direction of Mowe, involving a loaded trailer and a Sports Utility Vehicle.

The agency stated, “Another road crash was recorded on Kara Bridge inward Mowe where a loaded trailer reportedly collided with an SUV.”

Traffic management officers and police personnel were deployed to the affected areas to control traffic and assist with the removal of the vehicles involved in the crashes.

“Officers and police personnel are on the ground doing the needful,” the agency said.

LASMTA appealed to motorists using the route to remain patient while recovery operations continue, assuring road users that efforts were being made to restore normal traffic movement.

“We implore motorists to be patient as all hands are on deck to ensure all impediments are cleared off the road,” it said.
