Edo State lawmaker and wife of Nigerian singer 2Baba, Natasha Osawaru, has revealed her presidential ambition, saying she hopes to become Nigeria’s president while her grandfather is still alive.
Osawaru made the declaration during the 92nd birthday celebration of her grandfather, businessman and philanthropist Gabriel Igbinedion, in Benin City, Edo State.
In a video from the event that has gained attention online, the lawmaker showered praise on Igbinedion while expressing her affection for him.
Describing her grandfather as “my baby”, Osawaru said she cherished spending time with him and was amazed by how he had become “sweeter and better” with age.
She then made a promise to him, declaring that she would work towards becoming Nigeria’s president before his death.
“You are amazing, you are like my baby right now, I love you so much. As you age, you become sweeter and better, it is so amazing to be around you grandpa. I promise you that I will be the president of this country before you go,” she said.
Osawaru represents the Egor constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly and was recently appointed minority leader of the legislature.
Following her appointment, she described the position as more than a political designation, stressing that it came with responsibility and confidence placed in her.
According to the lawmaker, the position represented “not a title but a trust”.
Her latest declaration adds a presidential ambition to her growing political profile in Edo State, where she currently serves as a member of the state legislature.

Osawaru married 2Baba in July 2025 after the singer’s marriage to actress Annie Macaulay Idibia came to an end.
The couple later welcomed their first child together and held a dedication ceremony for the baby in February.
Their relationship has attracted considerable public attention, particularly because of the circumstances surrounding 2Baba’s separation from Annie.
However, the singer has repeatedly rejected claims that Osawaru was responsible for the breakdown of his previous marriage.
2Baba has maintained that his relationship with Osawaru did not cause his separation from Annie, despite the public scrutiny surrounding their union.
