The Federal Government has announced that students in all federal unity colleges across the country will return to school on Monday, September 14, 2026, for the new academic session.
The Federal Ministry of Education disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, September 11, by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo.
The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, said necessary measures had been put in place to facilitate the safe return of students and staff to the colleges.
According to the minister, relevant security agencies had been notified of the resumption arrangements and would increase surveillance around the schools and their surrounding communities.
“The safety and wellbeing of students and staff remain central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning,” Alausa said.
The minister appealed to parents and guardians to remain calm and rely on information released through official channels as they prepare their children for the resumption.

He also directed the management of the colleges to liaise with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and orderly return to school.
Alausa urged students, parents, teachers and school administrators to contribute to maintaining a peaceful and safe atmosphere across the colleges.
The ministry added that it would continue to assess the situation and coordinate with relevant authorities to ensure that the September 14 resumption proceeds as scheduled.
