Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has been laid to rest in Iperu Remo, Ogun State, following a funeral service held on Thursday.
The actress’ remains were conveyed from Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu to Akesan Club, Iperu Remo, where family members, friends and colleagues gathered to bid her farewell.
She was later interred at Iperu Remo Cemetery, with mourners dressed predominantly in white as they paid their final respects.
Among the Nollywood personalities who attended the burial were Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan and Basira Badia.
Osoba’s death was announced on August 5, almost two years after she underwent surgery for breast cancer in November 2024.
Her family had initially fixed August 13, 2026, for her burial. The date was announced after a candlelight procession and artiste tribute night were held on August 11 in her memory.
However, the family subsequently postponed the burial, explaining that more arrangements needed to be made and some unresolved issues settled before the final rites could take place.
Since her death, different claims have circulated online about what led to her passing.
Some reports alleged that the actress died as a result of emotional distress rather than cancer. There were also allegations against her fiancé, Itunu Onadeko, and members of his family, with claims that the actress was subjected to abuse during her illness.
The allegations remain claims and have not been established as facts.
The Celestial Church of Christ, where Onadeko serves as a shepherd, has since announced an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death.

Before her transition into acting, Osoba started out as a dancer. She later joined the Nigerian film industry in the early 2000s and featured in several productions.
Her notable credits include ‘Gucci Girls’ (2012), ‘Accident’ (2013) and ‘Ifedolapo’ (2015).
The Thursday funeral brought together members of the actress’ family, friends and colleagues as they honoured her and brought her burial rites to a close.
