Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has approved the payment of the first phase of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu’s medical expenses after she appealed to the public for financial support to undergo three critical surgeries.
The development was announced on Tuesday by the governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Martins Justice, in a post shared on X.
“His Excellency @alexottiofr have just stepped in on the health issues of our Nollywood legendary actress Mrs. Ngozi Nwosu to approve the first part of her medical bills,” he wrote.
Justice explained that the governor’s intervention covers only part of the treatment costs and appealed to Nigerians to continue supporting the actress as she battles her health challenges.
“While we sincerely appreciate His Excellency, we still appeal to kind-hearted Nigerians to please support her in any way possible you can,” he added.
He also expressed gratitude to Governor Otti on behalf of members of the creative industry.
“On behalf of the creative industry, we all thank you immensely, my leader. Ndewo sir,” he wrote.
The intervention follows Nwosu’s emotional appeal in which she disclosed that she had been hospitalised for three weeks and urgently needed ₦30 million to undergo three life-saving surgeries.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, the 62-year-old actress pleaded with fans, colleagues and loved ones not to abandon her during the difficult period.
“My people, my fans and my family, I know that you’ve not seen me in circulation for some time. I’ve been hospitalised now for three weeks. Please, the thing has gone beyond my control,” she said.
“I need your help. Don’t let me die. I know that you people never forsake me… I’m begging you, my fans and family, don’t let me die because I am going through a lot, as in pain.”
Nwosu revealed that she requires three surgeries and encouraged well-wishers willing to assist with her treatment to reach out to her management team.
