Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy has reached another global milestone after his collaboration with Colombian singer Shakira, Dai Dai, became the highest-charting FIFA World Cup song in history.

The song surged 25 places on this week’s Billboard Hot 100, climbing to a new peak of No. 17 and surpassing Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), Shakira’s 2010 World Cup anthem with Freshlyground, which previously held the record.

Beyond its Billboard success, Dai Dai also climbed to No. 3 on the Canadian Hot 100 and remains in the race for the No. 1 position on this week’s UK Official Singles Chart.

The latest achievement further strengthens Burna Boy’s reputation as one of Afrobeats’ biggest global stars, with the genre continuing to enjoy widespread international recognition.

Meanwhile, Billboard has brought an end to its World Digital Song Sales chart.

The music publication confirmed that the final edition of the chart was published on June 27, 2026.

The chart tracked the commercial performance of songs from markets including Nigeria, South Africa, the Caribbean, Asia and other regions outside the mainstream US market.

Before its discontinuation, several Nigerian acts, including Wizkid, Mr Eazi and Rema, had topped the ranking, highlighting the growing worldwide influence of Nigerian music.
