Anthony Joshua produced a remarkable comeback on Saturday night, stopping Albania’s Kristian Prenga in the second round of their heavyweight contest after being knocked down twice in a dramatic opening round.
The 36-year-old British-Nigerian boxer found himself under intense pressure from the opening bell as Prenga launched an aggressive attack.
Less than half a minute into the fight, the Albanian connected with a powerful uppercut before following up with an overhand right that sent Joshua crashing to the canvas.
Although Joshua beat the count, he struggled to regain his balance, allowing Prenga to pin him against the ropes and unleash another series of heavy punches that resulted in a second knockdown before the first round came to an end.
After receiving instructions from his corner, Joshua returned for the second round looking far more composed and determined.
The former heavyweight champion began controlling the distance with his jab before stepping in with a quick combination that shifted the momentum in his favour.

A solid straight right rocked Prenga, and Joshua immediately capitalised with a succession of hooks that forced the Albanian into the corner before sending him to the canvas.
Referee Harvey Dock began the count, but Prenga failed to get back to his feet, handing Joshua a second-round knockout victory.
Reflecting on the dramatic turnaround after the fight, Joshua said, “You have to dig deep in this sport. I was caught cold in the first, but champions find a way to answer back.”
The victory strengthens Joshua’s position in the heavyweight division as speculation continues over a potential blockbuster showdown with fellow British boxer Tyson Fury later this year.
