Fresh controversy has surfaced following the death of late Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo after a man identified as Clinton Ekubo, who claims to be related to the actor, publicly shared concerns over events surrounding his illness, personal life and burial.
In a lengthy Facebook post, Clinton alleged that Alex’s stepmother played a central role in decisions affecting the actor while sidelining members of the wider family.
According to him, relatives were allegedly unaware of key developments in Alex’s private life, including claims that his stepmother arranged a marriage for him without informing the family.
He further alleged that Alex gradually became detached from members of his paternal family and developed closer ties with his stepmother’s relatives.
“Honestly speaking, my brother David Ekubo and my sister Ify Ekubo were right in their write-up,” he wrote.
Clinton also claimed that the family did not know the actor had been ill until news of his death became public.
“Alex Ekubo was sick; nobody knew till his death. He died, and the family didn’t know that our son was sick and dead till it was announced to the public by his stepmother.”
He questioned the speed of the burial arrangements and suggested that immediate family members had limited involvement in planning the funeral.
According to him, he personally viewed the actor’s remains and raised concerns over certain physical observations.
“Nobody is explaining what really happened to our son. How come there is a blood clot in his eyes? Is the blood clot on his eyes part of the cancer also?”

Clinton further claimed he heard that the actor had arrived at the hospital already deceased and said the circumstances surrounding his passing left relatives unsettled.
He dismissed suggestions that his comments were connected to inheritance or financial interests.
“Please note that I am not writing this to chase anything, but just for clarity’s sake. Please remove properties from this. The Ekubo Okwareke family demand an explanation for her son since she could not explain to us indoors.”
At the time of this report, there had been no official response from Alex Ekubo’s family regarding the allegations.
