Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has revealed that he has officially joined the United States Army after completing military training, describing the moment as both a personal achievement and a way of honouring his late father.
The actor announced the development in an emotional Instagram post on Friday, revealing that he underwent 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, before earning enlistment into the military as a Specialist.
Looking back on the experience, Momodu said discipline and determination carried him through the demanding process.
“From inception, I have always believed in achievements earned through merit, which is why I constantly push myself beyond limits,” he wrote.
He explained that the training period pushed him mentally and physically, forcing him to endure difficult conditions and moments of uncertainty.
According to him, the experience involved “tears, fear of failure, resilience, endless days, short nights, fatigue, rain, and the scorching sun.”
The actor admitted there were times he questioned whether he could continue but stayed committed to reaching the end.
“There were moments of doubt and times I questioned myself, ‘who send me message sef’? But I never lost sight of the finish line,” he said.
Momodu described the military experience as life-changing, saying it reshaped his outlook and identity.
“We trained tirelessly, were broken down and rebuilt. I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” he wrote.
He added that the programme taught him how to “find comfort in discomfort.”
The actor said the enlistment carried deep emotional meaning because it connected him to his father’s service legacy.
