Nollywood actress Toyin Adewale has opened up on her personal views about marriage, saying it is not something she sees as a do-or-die situation.

Speaking during an interview with her colleague Biola Bayo on her podcast, the veteran actress explained that she would not remain in a marriage where there is domestic violence. However, she noted that in cases of ordinary misunderstandings without abuse, she would not consider leaving her husband’s home.

She also questioned the idea of walking away from a marriage over minor issues, wondering what the alternative would be and whether the next relationship would be any better.

According to her, she went into marriage with the mindset of staying committed as long as there was no violence.

“Marriage isn’t a do-or-die thing for me. I wouldn’t stay if he beats me. If there’s no violence and it’s just a minor misunderstanding, it’s normal. Why do I leave? Do I know what will happen where I am going? I got married with the determination of never leaving my marriage, provided there’s no violence.”

The actress further revealed details about her marital journey, noting that she got married in January 1993 and welcomed her son, Mayorkun, in March of the same year.

“I got married in January 1993 and had Mayowa in March 1993. I have been married for 33 years. I am the gentle one.”

Toyin Adewale added that she has been married for 33 years and described herself as a gentle personality.
