Kola Oyewo Dies At 80 As Kunle Afod, Kiekie, Others Pay Tribute

The Nigerian film industry has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of veteran actor, Kola Oyewo.

His passing was announced by fellow actor Kunle Afod, who took to Instagram to share the news alongside a photo of the late thespian.

Afod described Oyewo as a legendary figure whose talent, performances, and contributions to Nigerian theatre and cinema would remain unforgettable.

“Nollywood has lost a true legend,” he wrote.

“Kola Oyewo has taken his final bow. His remarkable talent, timeless performances, and immense contributions to the Nigerian theatre and film industry will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest well, sir. Your work lives on. It’s a wrap.”

Following the announcement, tributes poured in from colleagues and fans across the industry.

Aisha Lawal reacted simply, “Allahu Akbar,” while Kiekie wrote, “My Fav! Goodnight grandpa.”

Kevin Ikeduba said, “Sad. May his soul rest in Peace,” and Funmi Awelewa wrote, “Inna Lilahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji’un.”

Mustapha Sholagbade added, “May Allah accept his return,” Jamiu Azeez said, “Sleep well, legend,” while Bimbo Akisanya reacted, “Omg ooo.”

The late actor is remembered as one of Nollywood’s respected veterans whose work helped shape the growth of the industry.
