The Lagos State Police Command has moved to calm fears over an alleged threat targeting schools, assuring residents that there is no credible intelligence suggesting an impending attack on any educational institution in the state.

The reassurance follows the circulation of a notice reportedly pasted at a school, warning that bandits were planning to invade and abduct students.

In a statement issued on Monday, Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi said the Command had reviewed the situation and found no verified information pointing to an imminent threat.

“The Lagos State Police Command has seen reports of a threatening notice allegedly pasted at a school, claiming that bandits intend to attack and abduct school children.

“The Command wishes to reassure parents, guardians, school authorities, and all residents that there is presently no verified intelligence indicating any imminent threat of such an attack within Lagos State,” the statement read.

Despite the absence of confirmed intelligence, the police said the matter is being taken seriously and that additional security measures have been put in place across the affected area and other strategic locations.

The Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, has reportedly ordered a comprehensive security review and directed officers to strengthen protection around schools, critical facilities and residential communities.

According to the Command, police officers have been deployed in collaboration with other security agencies to boost surveillance and deter any potential security breach.

The police also warned criminal elements against any attempt to threaten public safety, stressing that anyone found spreading fear or engaging in activities capable of disrupting peace would face the full weight of the law.

Residents were encouraged to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information and continue supporting security agencies with useful intelligence.

The Command further urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious persons, movements or objects through the nearest police station or designated emergency lines.

Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, the police assured Lagosians that all necessary steps are being taken to maintain peace and protect lives and property across the state.
