Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has stepped down from the 2027 Lagos State governorship race under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He announced his withdrawal on Thursday during a media briefing held at Liberty House, Adeniyi Jones Secretariat in Ikeja, Lagos, where he was joined by supporters of the Lagos4Lagos movement.

The decision comes barely 24 hours after he obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms for the governorship contest.

Jandor’s withdrawal follows the endorsement of Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat as the APC consensus candidate by President Bola Tinubu and key party stakeholders.

Explaining his decision, he said he was honouring his earlier commitment to align with the President and party leadership.

“Within hours after I purchased my nomination forms, there were developments, including a meeting involving the President and the Deputy Governor. It was subsequently made known that the President had endorsed Dr. Obafemi Hamzat,” he said.

“Based on my earlier position that I will align with the direction of the President, I have decided to withdraw from the race.”

He urged his supporters to remain calm and continue to support the party, stressing the importance of unity and discipline within the APC.
