Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced the arrival of a new set of 24-car trains aimed at improving services on the Lagos Red Line rail system.

In a post shared on X on Thursday, the governor said the additional trains would enhance operational efficiency by increasing passenger capacity and reducing waiting time for commuters.

“We have received a new set of 24-car trains to strengthen the Lagos Red Line fleet,” he said.

“This will improve capacity, reduce wait times and make daily commuting easier for Lagosians.

“We remain focused on building a transport system that is efficient and reliable for everyone. That is still our goal.”

The Lagos Red Line, which began commercial operations on October 15, 2024, was earlier inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu in February of the same year.

The rail corridor runs from Agbado to Oyingbo, connecting key areas such as Iju, Agege, Mushin, Oshodi, and Yaba.

Authorities project that the train service will transport up to 500,000 passengers daily along the route, helping to ease traffic congestion and improve mobility across the state.
