Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday handed over official vehicles to Level 17 officers in the state public service, describing the move as a practical initiative to enhance service delivery across government ministries, departments, and agencies.
Sharing the development on his X account, the governor explained that the beneficiaries are directors who play pivotal roles in the performance of the state’s public service.
“I presented new official vehicles to our Level 17 officers across the Lagos State Public Service. These are Directors who play a key role in how our Ministries, Departments, and Agencies deliver results. Supporting them is a practical step to help them do their work better,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu added that equipping public service directors is critical for motivation and effective governance. “A motivated public service is at the heart of good governance. When people are properly equipped, they take more ownership, stay focused, and deliver with greater commitment,” he noted.
He further stressed that the presentation forms part of continuous efforts to strengthen service delivery and elevate performance standards within the state bureaucracy. “This is part of our ongoing effort to strengthen service delivery and raise the standard of performance across the system,” the governor said.

Tuesday’s exercise marked the third occasion Sanwo-Olu has distributed official vehicles to Level 17 officers. In January 2023, following his re-election, he approved and presented 100 vehicles to directors across the teaching, health, and mainstream civil service sectors. Another round was held in July 2024 at the State Secretariat in Alausa, with plans to continue the program on a rotational basis.
Level 17 represents the highest career grade in the Nigerian public service, occupied by senior directors heading departments and serving as key decision-makers in government ministries and agencies.
