Joseph Aloba, father of late singer Mohbad, has again insisted that his son will not be laid to rest until a DNA test is conducted to confirm the paternity of the child he left behind.
A Magistrate Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, had earlier ordered the DNA test to determine whether Liam Aloba is the biological son of the deceased. The ruling was delivered by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga following an application by the family.
In a video shared online, Aloba alleged that certain powerful individuals are working behind the scenes to frustrate the process, raising concerns about the integrity of the arrangements being made.
“Some powerful people have connived to use Mohbad’s death to frustrate me. After the toxicology was done, nothing came out of it, and now they have gone to pick a questionable DNA centre,” he said.
He also disclosed that he may explore the option of relocating the case outside Lagos State, noting that he would consult his lawyer on the next step.
“If possible, we will seek to transfer the case from Lagos to Ekiti State. I will consult my lawyer on that,” he added.
Reiterating his stance, Aloba appealed to the Lagos State Government to allow him proceed with the burial but stressed that the DNA test remains a non-negotiable condition.
“I am calling on the Lagos State Government to allow me to bury my son, but without DNA, we cannot proceed. It is part of the evidence,” he said.

He further urged the public to support his demand, emphasizing that establishing the truth is crucial to resolving the lingering controversy.
Earlier, the family’s lawyer, Oladayo Ogungbe, had expressed reservations about some of the laboratories selected for the test. The court had directed that the exercise be conducted in three mutually agreed facilities to ensure credibility and transparency.
The designated laboratories include DNA Diagnostics Centre, AlphaBiolabs, and Advanced Histopathology Laboratory Limited, though concerns have reportedly been raised about the capability of some of them.
Mohbad died in September 2023 under controversial circumstances, sparking nationwide reactions and ongoing disputes over his estate, royalties, and the paternity of his son, Liam, who was born months before his death.
