Pep Guardiola’s side bounced back from their recent setback in Europe, where they were knocked out of the Champions League round of 16 by Real Madrid, ending their hopes of winning four trophies this season.
Arsenal, meanwhile, entered the final still competing on multiple fronts and hoping to add silverware to their campaign.
The opening half produced no goals, with both sides struggling to break each other down in a tightly contested encounter.

City eventually found the breakthrough in the second half after a costly mistake from Kepa Arrizabalaga, who failed to hold onto the ball, allowing Nico O’Reilly to head into an empty net.
O’Reilly later doubled the advantage with another header, sealing victory for Manchester City and confirming them as Carabao Cup champions.
Despite the defeat, Arsenal remain ahead of City in the Premier League standings, holding a nine-point lead over Guardiola’s men.
